Geothermal energy is energy created using heat that comes from deep in the earth.
The Earth’s temperature is much higher at its core than its surface. Geothermal power stations generate electricity from the earth’s heat by drilling deep underground and using special fluids to transfer the heat to the surface. The hot fluids are then used to create steam to power turbines and drive generators to produce electricity.
Geothermal energy is increasingly being used to generate electricity.
