Probationary conditions on a driver's licence

Probationary conditions may be applied to a driver’s licence following licence disqualification. Probationary conditions generally apply for 12 months, but may be longer in some instances.

The term probationary conditions will be prominently displayed on the front of the driver’s licence with the conditions listed on the back.

If you are subject to probationary licence conditions you:
  • must not drive a motor vehicle or attempt to put a motor vehicle in motion on a road while there is any concentration of alcohol in your blood or the presence of THC (Cannabis), methylamphetamine (Speed) or MDMA (ecstasy) in your blood or oral fluid (saliva)
  • must carry your licence at all times while driving a motor vehicle
  • must not incur two or more demerit points during the probationary licence period
  • are not able to supervise the driving of a person with a learner’s permit.
