Changes to the Act

The Commonwealth Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (the VEA) has recently been replaced by the Commonwealth Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (the MRCA). However, the VEA is still the applicable Act for those service personnel injured or killed prior to 1 July 2004. This includes veterans of:

  • World War Two
  • Korean War
  • Vietnam War
  • other conflicts prior to 1 July 2004.

The MRCA covers those injured or killed on or after 1 July 2004.

Therefore, the VEA and the MRCA are both in operation and service personnel covered by either Act are entitled to the appropriate concessions.
