About the tour
The Traffic Management Centre is an interesting system to observe in operation. Screens and ‘live feeds’ are used from traffic areas to make the experience easy to sit and view.
The tour includes:
- an overview of the automated traffic signal system, which coordinates the traffic signals across Adelaide. This system eases congestion and improves traffic flow across the city.
- demonstrations - including how the signals can be accessed remotely to control situations such as major events and emergencies.
- an overview of the systems in the Heysen Tunnels, the reversible Southern Expressway and the Port River Expressway bridges.
- viewing real time images from over 500 cameras throughout Adelaide and along the freeways and expressways.
