Any heavy trailer that currently has an old configuration (T1-T12) must have a new configuration assigned that incorporates heavy trailer type and axle grouping(s).
New trailer configurations for heavy trailers begin with the following letters and will end with a number, or series of numbers representing the axle grouping(s) of your trailer.
Pig trailers - TP
Dog trailers - TD
Semi trailers - TS
Lead trailers - TL
Dolly trailers - TY
To have your new configuration assigned, complete your trailer details and sign the Heavy Trailer Types section of the information brochure and submit with your next registration renewal.
If you have multiple trailers, you may complete and submit the configuration code advice form instead of the information brochure.
If the trailer was previously registered in another state, is more than seven years old, and has an unladen mass of 4.5 tonnes or more, it will require a roadworthy inspection prior to registration.
