Making a will

Signing a willYou need a legal will if you want control of who benefits from your property and possessions (your estate) after you die.

If you don’t have a legal will the law decides for you how your estate will be divided. This may not be what you wanted.

There are two main sources of help:

  • Using a solicitor or legal professional ensures that your will is legal and may reduce the possibility of it being challenged by someone.
  • The Public Trustee also prepares wills and can act as the executor. Visit their website for the fees and charges for this service or phone them on 8226 9200 or 1800 673 119 (country toll free).
