Student housing

If you are a student enrolled in tertiary education you may be eligible for public housing provided by the Student Housing Program. A range of accommodation options are available including bed-sits, one bedroom units and houses suitable for families.

To be eligible you must be enrolled in a recognised tertiary education institution - eg university, TAFE SA.

How to apply

Step 1: Complete an application for student housing (PDF 346KB) form. For an alternative version of this document contact Housing SA.

Step 2: Provide proof of income and identity (PDF 621KB) (Word 820KB).

Step 3: Provide your official record of enrolment in tertiary education.

Step 4: Return all documentation to the Student housing program. Completed forms can also be lodged at any Housing SA office or by post.

All forms and fact sheets can be posted to you by Housing SA.

Rent and other charges

Rent is 75% of the market rent which is based on the type of house and location. Rent is payable every Saturday.

You will be responsible for organising and paying for utilities and services - eg gas, electricity and telephone.

Maintenance issues should be reported as soon as possible to Housing SA Maintenance. You will not be charged for maintenance required due to fair wear and tear.

To end your tenancy

Step 1: Complete a termination of tenancy form (PDF 984KB).  For an alternative version of this document contact Housing SA.

Step 2: Return this form to the Student housing program.

If you are no longer enrolled in tertiary education notify the Student housing program as soon as possible.
