State emergencies

State emergencies include:

  • floods
  • storms
  • bushfires
  • drought.

In the event of an emergency the State Recovery Office works closely with various government and non government organisations to:

  • restore essential facilities, services and community networks
  • provide information, referral and advice to affected people
  • provide immediate practical and material assistance to affected people
  • support the recovery of business.

Up to date public information messages and information about service providers are available through the Disaster Assist website.

After a significant event evacuation centres may be established in affected areas to help people and communities recover. Assistance may include:

  • food
  • accommodation
  • financial assistance
  • advice and information
  • support and referrals to appropriate services.

Members of the public can volunteer during an emergency in South Australia.
