Local Government involvement with affordable housing

Local Government plays a vital role in the provision of affordable housing. Housing SA works with the local governments to encourage and promote affordable housing strategies within their areas. This is done by the development of:
  • local affordable housing strategies
  • development plan amendments to include affordable housing policy
  • local affordable housing projects
  • statutory schedule eight referrals for developments that include affordable housing.
To help local governments develop and implement affordable housing strategies view the Local Government Affordable Housing Kit Complete 2011 (PDF 519KB).
