The Housing and employment land supply program report 2010 (PDF 29MB) aims to guide the more effective management of land supply for residential, commercial and industrial purposes. For an alternative version of this document see planning contacts.
The housing and employment land supply program report:
- monitors the implementation of The 30 year plan for Greater Adelaide
- identifies the total amount of land needed and set annual rolling targets to reflect changes in the market and changes to the rate of population growth
- serves to ensure there is land capacity to meet annual housing and employment targets and that capacity is spread equitably across the region
- assists infrastructure agencies with planning to ensure that infrastructure and urban development is effectively and efficiently coordinated
- provides a spatial guide to local government, which assists in aligning regional implementation strategies.
The housing and employment land supply program report is produced on an annual basis and covers a five year period within which actions are identified for state government and local government. Those actions relate to implementing planning policies that ensure the supply of land meets demand and that the necessary infrastructure can also be provided.

Industrial land database
The industrial land database 2008 was developed to achieve efficient and effective economic development, and accurate and up-to-date information on the supply, location and availability of industrial land.
The database is primarily used as a planning tool covering the greater Adelaide region plus the transport corridors extending to Port Wakefield to the north and Tailem Bend to the south east. It contains a complete listing of all the industrial sites located within industrial zones as well as any sites with an industrial land use outside these zones.
Industrial information has been entered into a geographical information system (GIS) enabling mapping and spatial analysis of the data. The GIS also allows the industrial database to be integrated with other standard data sets including the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ population and housing census and other data themes including cadastral and land ownership information.
