Finding a property's details

You can do some research on a specific property to make sure you have all the information available to help you either buy or sell it. A fee may be payable for these services.

If you are engaging a conveyancer they will research the property for you.

PropertyAssist can provide online information about land and property in South Australia for a fee. This is the authoritative and most up-to-date information available.

It provides information for individual properties, including:
  • certificates of title
  • plans
  • ownership details
  • sales details
  • property details
  • the site and capital values
  • any constraints registered on the land - eg easements, heritage listings.

If you don't know the property's address or certificate of title reference number you can find this information through the Property Location Browser. This is a free, map-based browser that allows you to locate the property on a map. It will provide a property identifier, usually a number or code.

House prices

Comparing house prices can give you a good idea of what price similar properties in similar areas have sold for and what you can expect to pay.

You can check house prices by:

  • looking at properties currently being advertised for sale in the paper, with real estate agents or online
  •  checking the median house prices online through the Real Estate Institute of South Australia website.
