When researching, look for information on:
- courses offered and prerequisites
- the quality of courses and lecturers
- cost - check the institute's website to find out what scholarships, concessions or discounts are available
- graduate success in gaining employment
- facilities and resources offered - individual campuses differ in the breadth and quality of facilities and resources available to students
- academic reputation - the reputation of an institution is sometimes an important factor for employers hiring staff
- convenience of campus location - students living a long distance from where they choose to study may need to consider the availability and quality of student housing.

South Australian universities and VET providers
Universities
South Australia is home to three major universities:
Search the Australian Qualifications Framework Register for all recognised higher education providers in Australia.
TAFE SA
TAFE SA is the state's major provider of vocational education and training (VET). There are:
- three institutes and 48 campuses and learning centres across the state
- over 800 award courses
- vocational and language certificates through to bachelor degrees.
Registered training organisations (RTO)
Search the Australian government training database to find registered training organisations.
