Organisations in South Australia have a responsibility to provide a healthy, safe and risk-free environment for their volunteers and the communities they serve. This includes planning for:
- the ability to manage crisis situations and
- preventative measures to reduce legal liability.
These responsibilities can include obligations under Commonwealth and State legislation.
The South Australian Government provides a range of tailored information, resources and training to help organisations understand these responsibilities and meet their legal obligations.
The Office for Volunteers (OFV) provides:
- a risk management fact sheet (PDF 1.5MB)
- a risk management toolkit for community organisations to reproduce and use.
These resources are also available through
Volunteer Resource Centres and
Local Councils.
A free
online training module, Introduction to Risk Management is available to community organisations. More information about
training is available from Volunteering SA & NT.
