Self-managed funding gives people with disabilities control over their support funding. They can choose how, where and when they receive support. It is also known as individualised funding.
Self-managed funding can range from a direct payment to a person with a disability to enable them to arrange and purchase the support they require, through to arrangements which support a person with a disability to make decisions about how money should be spent on their behalf.
Fifty people will be selected by a panel for a self-managed funding initiative over 12 months. They will receive training and support in self-management and must agree to take part in an evaluation of this initiative.
