Family, friends and neighbours can offer great support but when they are not available, or more assistance is needed, you may be able to get support with:
- cleaning the house and washing clothes
- nursing and health care
- personal care - for example, help with showering
- delivered meals
- maintaining and repairing the home or garden
- getting around the house - for example, ramps, rails and equipment
- shopping
- transport
- day options.

Phone 1300 786 117 or contact your local Disability Services office. You must be a client of Disability Services and priority is given to people in most urgent need.
If you are not a Disability Services client see eligibility and referrals.
If you are over 65 and have a newly diagnosed disability, visit the housing and help at home section on the Seniors pages for support you may be able to access.
Home cleaning, garden tidying and rubbish removal services are run by many local councils. For more information contact your local council.

Commonwealth Carer Respite Centres can organise respite care for you in your local area. Phone:

Respite care programs for people with an intellectual disability are provided by Centacare.
Campbell House offers 24-hour support for clients of Disability Services who are looking to take a break. The house is staffed by personal support workers who are trained to work with people with disability. For more information see the Campbell house information sheet.
