Goals and strategies

Developing a strategic plan will help your community organisation to define its goals and objectives and manage long-term planning. It can also establish a path to focus on specific outcomes and how best to achieve them.
 
Strategic plans are tailored to meet specific needs. Some components that may be considered for your organisation’s planning document may include:
  • a vision – a statement about what the future will look like
  • a mission – a statement describing the organisation’s main purpose
  • goals – a broad description of the things the organisation wants to achieve
  • objectives – statements about the targets to be achieved by the organisation as part of its goals
  • strategies – processes used to achieve the organisation's goals.
