Organisations are encouraged to become suppliers to the South Australian Government. Procurement is based on value for money and presents many opportunities.
Procurement policies
The
State Procurement Board manages the policy framework, with polices designed to be as flexible as possible. This allows agencies to develop strategies, within the policy framework, that best suit their business needs.
As well as making purchases, public authorities are generally responsible for selecting suppliers and establishing supplier arrangements. In practice, the procurement process involves:
- planning for procurement
- the selection process
- establishing and managing contracts
- the disposal of surplus goods.
