Overview

Notification and licensing for the importing of explosives is required under the Explosives Act 1936.

Notice of intention

This notification is required for the importation - including importation from interstate - of any class of explosive in quantities exceeding three kilograms.

Notification must be given at least two clear working days prior to the import, to the Director, SafeWork SA in the form of Schedule A (PDF 24KB).

Licence to import

This licence is required for the importation - including importation from interstate - of any class of explosive in quantities exceeding three kilograms.

Notification is required for each consignment imported. All imported explosives must be classified by the Dangerous Substances Team of SafeWork SA.

This licence is not transferable.
