Overview

Works approval

A business establishing an activity that does not require development approval under the Development Act 1993 may be required to obtain an Environment Protection Authority (EPA) works approval, prior to applying for a licence.

The works approval application is similar to a development application. It consists of an environmental assessment carried out for the EPA prior to considering a licence application.

Exemption

A business or person undertaking an activity that will generate excessive pollution, in terms of noise, dust, smoke, odour, water, waste or stormwater, may require an EPA exemption.

If the generated pollution exceeds the limits stated in the Environment Protection Policies administered by the EPA you will need to contact EPA Licensing on (08) 8204 2058.
