Services

A range of services for commercial and recreational fishers is provided by the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA).

Licensing and registration services

Commercial fishers can make their licence payment online.

Other licensing and registration forms are available for downloading.

Recreational fishers can make rock lobster pot registrations and payments online or download the forms.

Applications for registration of recreational rock lobster pots will be accepted by PIRSA Fisheries from 1 August each year until 31 May the following year.

Printed and electronic materials

A number of publications, reports and fact sheets are available from the PIRSA website.

  • The Recreational Fishing Guide - an overview of the rules and regulations applying to recreational fishing in South Australia.
  • Fishing brochures containing more information about fishing in South Australia, including:
    • quick reference guides to catch, bag and boat limits
    • information about particular fishing regions
    • information about particular types of fishing activity.
  • Fisheries reference books and reports providing more detailed information about fish habitats and fisheries management.
  • The educational kit, Get hooked - used by schools to introduce students to freshwater and marine fish, as well as other aquatic life. This is a national fisheries initiative.
  • Fishfacts - free email newsletter of interest to all fishers.
