Cleantech has become a major global business opportunity and South Australia is developing green manufacturing, cleantech industries and renewable energy to take it to the forefront of the industry.
The Department for Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy (DMITRE) is leading South Australia’s cleantech industry development strategy and has identified business opportunities in:
- energy efficiency
- green buildings
- water
- environmental technologies and services
- transport.
As part of this strategy, DMITRE is:
- focusing on projects that build competitive advantage for the State, such as the Tonsley Park Redevelopment
- encouraging partnerships between industry, government and research groups to support new products and services
- helping companies reduce carbon emissions and improve resource efficiency
- facilitating industry participation in major local and international projects.
DMITRE has led the formation of industry clusters to engage businesses, develop a database of capabilities and identify potential opportunities and customers.
- Smart energy - businesses with technologies and services that can help make the electricity grid more efficient.
- Building energy efficiency - to offer technoolgoigies and services to the building, construction and facilities maintenance sectors.
- Environmental services - businesses offering environmental consultancy services and solutions.
