The Independent Living Centre (ILC) provides free information and advice on equipment to help individuals improve their quality of life and maintain their independence.
The Independent Living Centre is staffed by health professionals (occupational therapists). Our services are available to all members of the public.

Information and advice is provided about equipment and techniques to assist with everyday tasks, including:
- bathroom, toileting and incontinence
- clothing and dressing
- household and kitchen equipment
- building fixtures and design for access
- lifting, transferring, ramps and hoists
- seating
- mobility/walking aids
- wheelchairs, scooters ('gophers') and buggies
- vehicle modifications
- communication aids and telephone access
- computer and vocational aids
- recreation.
We can also provide advice on equipment hire, loan and purchase.
Equipment is on display at the centre for the public to browse and try out. A health professional is available to provide advice and assistance. Brochures, fact sheets, books, videos and CD ROMs are also on display.

Please make a booking to make sure a staff member is available when you visit. When you call, tell us if you want to try out specific equipment.

Our staff can provide equipment displays and presentations for community groups. We also provide professional development workshops on equipment and related topics to health professionals, university and TAFE students.

We provide a free advisory service that travels around South Australia, allowing you to view and trial a range of equipment and discuss your needs with an occupational therapist.
