The Continence Resource Centre is a state-wide continence information and advisory service located at the Independent Living Centre (ILC).
Incontinence refers to the involuntary passing of urine or faeces and may affect people of all ages. There are many different causes of incontinence and much can be done to improve or cure incontinence problems.
What we provide
The Centre is staffed by registered nurses and continence nurse advisors and provides information and advice on bladder and bowel problems. Services include:
- information and advice on continence management and services
- a product display including toileting equipment and adaptive clothing
- fact sheets, brochures, videos, CDs and books
- health promotion activities
- education sessions and seminars.
The Centre also promotes activities such as Continence Awareness Week in August each year.
Information and services are free and available to all community members, including people with disabilities, carers, their families and health professionals.
The centre is affiliated with the Continence Foundation of Australia which provides information, research, project support and literature for distribution in the community.
