Eligibility for Disability Services
To be eligible for Disability Services you must:
- be under 65 years of age when first referred
- have significant difficulty managing daily activities
- need the support of a specialist disability agency
and
- meet one (or more) of following criteria:

If you're not eligible for Disability Services services
If you are not eligible for services from Disability Services, you may be able to get help from other organisations.
Children
In most cases, children 0–18 years of age with a physical or neurological disability or acquired brain injury can get support from Novita Children’s Services.
Visit the Novita website for more information about how to register for Novita services. Fees apply to some services.
People with sensory disability
If you have a hearing or vision impairment, Sensory Directions workers can help you to find and use a range of supports. For more information and to find out if you are eligible, phone 1800 738 855 or see sensory disabilities and the support available.
People with a disability aged over 18 years
If you're over 18 years of age and have a disability, you may be able to get support from Domiciliary Care, although most clients are aged over 65. For general inquiries and client referrals, phone 8193 1234 or see Domiciliary Care.
People with disability aged over 65 years
If you are over 65 years of age and have a newly-diagnosed disability, see housing and help at home or the Seniors pages for information about support you may be eligible for.
